Walking Tours, Bird Watching along the Lake Bafa, Ancient Herakleia, Latmos Mountains

Everybody between 08 up to 65 years of age can join the walking groups along ancient Latmos - Herakleia daily. End of the tours we have lunch served at Selene's and our boat takes us to the islands along the lake and also to the beach for you to enjoy the sunshine for the rest of the day.

From the Meander Delta to the Latmos Mountains
The area between Ephesus and Bodrum with its richly varied scenery owes its character to several river deltas, especially those of the Greater and the Lesser Meander rivers (Menderes). Sedimentation has resulted in a number of marshes and lakes. The largest, Lake Bafa, centrally situated, is an ideal starting point for excursions to numerous interesting areas within easy distance.
This tour is ideal for couples, families, and small groups with different interests as it runs parallel to our alternative programme "Culture & Nature", also based at Selene's Pension & Restaurant Lake Bafa.

Participants can optionally book either the cultural programme, or relax at the beach, go for walks, or swim in the lake. The excellent regional Turkish cuisine offers a large variety of fresh vegetables, salads and fruit all the year round.

1 week private trekking Bafa Lake tour program

Day1: Air-port transfer to Selene's Pension, welcome meal at Selene's Restaurant (dinner)
Day 2: Ancient Herakleia city tour, walking around the country.

Day 3: City walls 6500 metres long and walking up to the watch tower of the ancient Herakleia town for breath-taking view.
Day 4: Gokkaya and Kiliselik stage.
walking up yto ikizce (twin) islands, continue to menet island by boat which is a great opportunuty to watch many species of cormorant birds
Day 5: Stylos monastery
Monastery that built by St. Paulos in 10.th centurydecorated with beautifull frescoes, continue by walking up to King's Road
Day 6: Milas Market, Shopping day out, a cahnce to observe Turkish way of shopping as well as living. On our way back Milas museum is visited and our last stop is traditional turkish bath at the milas town.
Day 7: Walking up to Seven Brothers Monastery. In the evening dinner is served with the accompanionship of traditional turkish music.
Day 8: Transfer back to Air-port.

Hiking Lake Bafa Programme 1: Monastery of Seven Brothers Lap

There and Back 12 Kilometres of walk aproximately 5 hours.
during the walk 8-10 000 years of neolitic age wall paintings drawn on the rocks, Monastery of Seven Brothers built on 7th A.D and frescoes can be seen.
240 metres up to sea level.

Hiking Lake Bafa Programme 2: King's Road and Stylos Monastery Lap
There and Back 22 kilometres of walk and approximately takes 9 hours.
A Road builted by Persians dedicated to their Kings followed up Stylos Monastery known by its frescoes dedicated to St.Paulos
140 metres up to sea level.

Hiking Lake Bafa Programme 3: City walls and Jesus Cave Lap

Aproximately about 11 kilometres and 6 hours of walk. Kings Road,city walls surrounded by 6500 metres Jesus Cave Frescoes and tombs can be seen in order one by one.

Hiking Lake Bafa Programme 4: Churches Lap
5 hours tour there and back. In orderly; frescoes, monastery will be visited. Then we take off to ikizce Islands close by in the Lake. Break for swimming -sunbathe we can walk (takes approx.for one and half hour) or by boat back to Selenes Pension.

BIRD OBSERVATION TOURS ON THE BAFA LAKE There are nearly 250 species of birds living in the area of Bafa National Park, The Meander Delta and lake Azap (myus).70 of them are breeding here.Here is Turkeys,one of the most important well watered areas that offers Birds the convenient environment they need.Pelican which is a kind of bird has danger of extinction breeds on the lake and a kind of eagle breeds in the mountain Latmos ( Besparmak) which is at the north side of the lake.
