The natural and historical relics here are inseparable from each other. The nature of these mountains was the cradle of the culture, aesthetic, myths and beliefs of Beşparmak Mountains. The natural structure here and the works of the tribes, who lived here, have reached our day out of the prehistoric period. Meaning, the traces of people, who have lived here 8.000-10.000 years ago are in these mountains.

This is new , continuous trek from the ruins of Heraklia , and forms part of the new long distance walk from Heraklia to Stylos monastery and around Latmos Mountains. The trek allows you to immerse yourself in the way of life of the inhabitants of the quaint old stone and timber villages on the route; you will frequently stay in village houses,see local handcrafts , watch cheese and yoghurt making and enjoy village foods.

Walking Tour in Ancient Caria and Ionia Itinerary
Day 1 - Izmir: Arrival at Izmir Airport and transfer to hotel in Izmir. Then Welcome cocktail and info about the tour will be given by your guide. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Izmir - Labranda: After breakfast a half day city tour of Izmir then transfer to Labranda, is one of the most interesting sites in Caria. Visit the ancient city of Labranda involves a certain amount of scrambling and climbing. Overnight in environs.
Day 3 - Labranda - Comakdag: After breakfast depart for Comakdag Village (4 hours walking). Overnight in Comakdag.
Day 4 - Comakdag - Kayabuku: After breakfast depart for Kayabuku Village (4 hours walking). Overnight in Kayabuku.
Day 5 - Kayabuku - Yeniokul: After breakfast depart for Yeniokul (5 hours walking). Overnight in Yeniokul.
Day 6 - Yeniokul - Heracleia: After breakfast depart for Heracleia. On the way, visit to Yediler (Seven) Monastery and the Cave of Jesus. Overnight in Heracleia (5 hours walking).
Day 7 - Heracleia - Kusadasi: After breakfast depart for Priene, was one of the most active ports of Ionian Federation. Making the site particular interest, is the system of geometric city planning introduced in 4th century B.C. by Hippodamos. Then drive to Miletus, was the native land of several philosophers and sages. Didyma was one of the most sacred places in antiquity as being the second most famous oracle center. Drive on to the busy port of Kusadasi. Overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 8 - Kusadasi - Izmir: After breakfast begin the day with a tour of Ephesus, Roman capital of Asia Minor. Ephesus's Archeological Museum. The House of Virgin Mary. Transfer to Izmir Airport. For your flight back to home.

BIRD OBSERVATION TOURS ON THE BAFA LAKE
There are nearly 261 species of birds living in the area of Bafa National Park, The Meander Delta and lake Azap (myus). 70 of them are breeding here. Here is Turkeys, one of the most important well watered areas that offers Birds the convenient environment they need. Pelican which is a kind of bird has danger of extinction breeds on the lake and a kind of eagle breeds in the mountain Latmos ( Besparmak) which is at the north side of the lake.
Although there are many kinds of Birds in every season, monhs between september and March are the most appropriate time for observation. We arange bird observation tours of 7 days which includes 4 days lake bafa, 1 day Meander Delta and 1 day lake Azap( Myus), 1 day Selenes Pension.

PROGRAM PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP:
Bafa Lake and its environments such as the ancient city of Latmos Herakleia and Beşparmak Mountains offers perfect opportunities to shoot extraordinary nature photos. Both for amateur and professional photographers as well as nature lovers, it’s a wonderful place to improve photographic skills. In order to maintain this even further, Selene’s Pension offers photography courses both in nature and in workshops within the Pension’s facilities. Courses are given by experienced photographers who also have classes in fine arts departments of universities.
Contents of the course include:
- Basic photographic information: Lenses, cameras, exposure, visual composition, etc
- Workshops in village life: How to capture culctural elements, photographing human and life-style,
- Workshops in nature: How to capture wild life, natural beauties, history, etc. Both on the islands on the Bafa Lake and in the heights of Beşparmak Mountains, there is enourmus opportunities to shoot photos of ancient remainings from neolitic and pre-historic ages and early Christianity. Menet Island, the shelter of fish-eating birds, Twing Island where an ancient castle and remainings of a monastry exists, Seven Brothers Monastry are some examples.
- Workshops in classroom: Dramatic portrait, conceptual photography.
- Classroom trainings: Visual reading and connatiation, history of photography.
Selenes Pension offers package photography camp programs for photography, nature, history clubs, associations or groups, as well as individual amateur or professional photographers.
